Rare Vintage Art Deco era Medal. Marvelously detailed and very elegant religious medal signed PENIN LYON featuring Our Lady of Lourdes. The front of the medal features the Blessed Mother Virgin Mary as Our lady of Lourdes, Mary is looking up to a beautiful apparition of Jesus Christ from the Grotto . The bottom is dated 1884-1934, unmarked sterling silver. On the reverse side is the word EDEGHEM in beautiful lettering and also the signatures of artist Penin and Lyon. Edeghem is a municipality in Antwerp Belgium. I believe the church on the back of the medal is that of The old Sint-Antoniuskerk - the church of Saint Anthony. This medal is quite large at 1 1/2 inches tall and just over 3/4 inch wide.
